Yolanda has always been an avid reader.  However, it wasn't until college that she realized she loved to write and had a knack to put pen to paper.  She took a creative writing course and was bitten by the writing bug and as they say, the rest is history.  She wrote several poems and short stories; some were even featured in the school newspaper.  Through the encouragement of her family she pushed herself to broaden her talents to write plays, skits and children's books. Currently, Yolanda is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). She feels writing is such an important part of her life because it allows her to fully express herself.  She believes writing can transcend the reader to a specific time or place.
